What are you Thankful for???

ree

Happy Thanksgiving from Full Proof Ministries!

As we look at the Scripture of Psalm chapter 107, I see the sovereignty of God being revealed. We are prone to limit our thinking to our physical environments, which I see being addressed in this chapter. I also see the spiritual environment addressed.

Verse 1 starts out describing God's character. Good and everlasting love towards His creation. In other words, everlasting love towards you by your Creator is a good thing. Amen

Verses 2-6 Call the redeemed of the Lord say so. We are not to be ashamed of our redemption. Nor is it something that we are prideful of, it is something that we are to be THANKFUL for. To be redeemed from the hand of the adversary is a God thing. Something we cannot do on our accord, but we partner with God. I'll explain that in a moment. Verse 3 mentions the lands, east, west, north, south. That covers everywhere and it tells us that it's for all people thanks to Christ Jesus. At the time, this was referring to the people of Israel, but thanks be to Christ that made there to be no division between mankind, but made them radically equal in Him. It is only through Christ that we can see ourselves accurately...and that can only take place at the foot of the cross. We often find our way there by being in distress, as mentioned in verse 5. Hungry, thirsty, soul fainting are all adjectives of distress. Maybe you can recall a time when you felt this way? Maybe not in the physical, but what about within your spirit? A loss of relationship, looked over for that promotion, physical infirmities can all affect our spiritual well being. Verse 5 goes on to say that their spirit fainted within them.

But in verse 6 we see "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; and He delivered them from their distress" "He led them by the straight way, to go into an inhabited city". We must call upon the Lord. God is a gentleman that will not force Himself upon any man. It is up to us to call upon our Creator because we are His creation. As a child calls out to their parent. The parent doesn't call out to their child in distress. I hear you...I'm not speaking about when a child is grown and the parent is deteriorating. The Word tells us that we are children of God and He's not deteriorating, He is eternally in His prime! So we posture ourselves accurately, as a child of the King of kings and call out to Him in our distress. When we do that, we acknowledge that He is supreme, that we need Him, that He has the answers, that He is the Provider of all good things. It is why we are called to worship Him and no other. Which leads us to verse 8.

"Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men"! vs 9 "For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good. (Does your soul thirst and hunger for the things of God?) He fills us with what is good. Not the drive thru compromised meal from the world, the adversary's counterfeit perversion, but the four course meal that He alone prepares for us. He invites us to not only eat of the King's food and drink, but He invites us to the King's table to dine!!

Those of us that know Jesus Christ as Lord, King and Master know that we can dine with Him and His meals are the real "Happy Meals" of this life and the next!

This is why we give thanks. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, vs.24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus"

God made a way for each of us through Christ Jesus!!

The only appropriate response is one of Thanksgiving to which we can be unified!

Thanks be to God for those of you that read this. Our prayer is that you are encouraged and possibly challenged in some way that leads you to glorifying God in a greater capacity. May each of us take the time to think on the things of God by meditating on His preserved Word and yielding to what Holy Spirit reveals to us. This is the "partnering" aspect I referred to earlier. As He leads, we follow. It's as simple as that.

May God bless you!!
