If you are celebrating Freedom, What will you do with it??

As I read the verse of the day today from the Youversion Bible app, I couldn't help but think of this question especially with the celebration of Independence Day. I'm not going to get super political here, because this isn't the place for it, nor do I find joy in wasting time.

The verse was ' “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. '

Luke 6:27-28

This made me think of how radical Christ calls us to live. This is how radical Christ calls America to live if it is a Christian nation. This charge separates the cultural Christians from the sold out radical ones. It takes a next level relationship to get you to the next level. This is what Christ is calling us to here, to go completely against what your natural flesh would be gratified in and also satisfied in because you would feel completely justified in doing unto others as they've done unto you. But Christ says to do good to those that hate you or rather Choose to do good to those that hate you. Choose to bless those that curse you and Choose to pray for the ones that mistreat you. That is next level!! and that takes Christ living in you and working through you.

So we see that as we celebrate the freedoms that we have, we must recognize that we must choose wisely. Wise decisions do not come naturally, but divinely by Christ living in you and through you.

With all the freedoms that we have, may we choose wisely and love our enemies, do good to all people, bless those that curse and make fun of you and pray for everyone that impacts you. Doing these things honors God with your obedience, which is better than sacrifice.

Obeying God reveals that we are satisfied in Him and His ways.

As you celebrate with loved ones, family and friends this holiday, remember to choose wisely and respond to others after holding your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

Honor God by using your independence to proclaim and embrace your dependence upon Him, Who gives you life.

May God bless you!!
